I began riding in 1990. I was packing behind a biker friend, and decided that I should learn to handle the bike just in case I ever found myself in a situation that needed to know how to ride. Well, after two days of Motorcycle Safety Class, riding a little Honda 50  around the school blacktop, I had the fever. There was nothing to do but get my own bike. I ended up with a Kawasaki 500-- I really felt quite daring at the time. I loved that bike.

There was one factor I worried about, Wind! I especially remember one windy day after I had been riding for about a year wondering to myself how anyone could enjoy riding when their bike was being blown all over the road. I was holding my handlebars tight, probably had my tongue stuck out at an angle for good measure, when I happened to glance skyward and see several birds just soaring. They were floating on the air currents and looked so peaceful and graceful. "I wish I could do that" drifted through my mind. And then I was! Just riding the air currents down the road.... what a grand experience! Since then I've been riding the wind ever since and loving every minute of it! I've enjoyed riding a Yamaha Virago 1100, moved on to a '96 HD Road King, and now soar on down the road on a '03 HD Heritage Softail. Not bad for a little 'ol schoolteacher from Tampa, Florida!
